Lu graduated from the Department of Motion Picture, National Taiwan University of Arts (NTUA). He is a writer and director for films, short film CF, and web series, and excels at fantasy, thrillers, and parables that delve into the human morality. Lu has been honored with the Junior Golden Bell award for best self-produced program, Best Director at 2007 National Ourfilms Project, represented Taiwan as a director at ACFNet FLY2013, an annual Asia-Pacific event held in Korea, Horror Feature Silver Award at 2015 WorldFest-Houston International Film & Video Festival, the Fandom Fest Best Fantasy Feature-Length Film Award, Macabre Special Performance Award, and was also nominated for the Golden Harvest Award and International Student Golden Lion Award.

In 2019, Hsin-yen’s screenplay “The Bloodfolded” was nominated for the 2019 Taiwan Excellent Movie Screenplay Awards、the 2019 Golden Horse Film Project Promotion, the 2020 Taiwan Film Development of Planning and Script,  and will be shooting in 2022 as his first feature film.  It will be also published as a novel in 2022.In 2021, another screenplay “Undercurrent” was nominated for the 2021 Taiwan Excellent  Movie Screenplay Awards.
